Krazi Baker is a family run baking service. Mark Douglas aka, Krazi Baker founded the company upon realising a dream. Mark and his family live in Dromore, County Down, Northern Ireland.
Krazi Baker was inspired by the street food on offer on various city breaks throughout continental Europe. However, he noticed, fresh bread was never on offer.
Soda Farls
“You’d see every product under the sun, but never bread baked on site. I was wondering how to do this and when I went back to work, the answer was staring me in the face – hotplates and soda bread.”
Thus a mobile start up, Irish Griddle Bread Service was born in 2011. This concept alive and well today, is a nostalgic experience for a lot of our Krazi customers, who reminisce about their Granny making Soda Farls for them as boys and girls. In Ireland, a Soda will get you far in the day. Soda Farls are associated with a good time in the hearts and minds of the Northern Irish people.
National Success
2021, 10 years on and Krazi Baker has become a national success. Tourists from all around the world have been shipped back home with a tin of his buttery shortbread. Keeping alive the oldest traditions in bread making, Mark moves into a new dimension of his own skill, via teaching and passing on his over 40 years of bread making trade secrets to willing students.
Mark has featured in many markets and food shows throughout the country. He has been awarded “Great Taste Awards” for several products in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
